Full cost accounting
If our leaders were in business they would be sacked .
Take energy pricing discussions which feed only the superficial bookkeepers
Those who limit themselves to a few columns of their own interest.
Those who make light of those who look beyond the blinkers to the real world of balancing costs and benefits that work in everyone's interest .
Those who forget that , without a focus on externalities, nothing will work for long Short term gain long term pain is anathema to true conservationists.
Take the absurd reality in public discussions of energy supply policy that no one seems to accounts for depreciation - no industry could survive on such blinkeredness.
Windmills not only cannot supply power when you need em , (and neither can batteries and panels ) but the governments over commitment to them will cause economic ruin.
If the gearbox and fan investment only lasts less than 20 yrs and its maintenance and deprecation costs are astronomical, the idea is a dead duck from the start.
